Unit 2: Nonfiction and Research
Essential Questions:
In this unit, students will be learning about the non-fiction genre. Together, we will be reading and analyzing non-fiction texts. We will examine text features and learn how to comprehend and dissect a non-fiction work. Throughout the unit students will be reading a non-fiction book of their choice. We will be learning how to properly read and retain information from a text, decode difficult words, and how to take notes. Students will conclude the unit by writing a research essay about the topic their book is about. They will use their book as one source as well as 3 outside sources.
